FDA Authorizes Moderna and Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 Booster And Endorses Mix and Match Strategy

The FDA authorized Moderna and Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 booster shots. The agency also gave its stamp of approval for the “mix and match” strategy which allows people to boost with a different Covid-19 vaccine than initially received. Those eligible for Moderna booster, administered at least six months after the second dose, include older adults over 65 years as well as younger adults at high risk due to medical conditions or work exposure. All (18 and older) who previously received the J & J vaccine are eligible for booster shots at least two months after their first dose.
