Drugmaker Must Pay $26 Billion for Its Role in the Opioid Crisis

Johnson & Johnson and three major drug distributors were ordered to pay out a large settlement for the parts they played in fueling the opioid crisis. Most states and local governments in the United States will receive a portion of the $26 billion dollars to aid in their recovery. The communities involved could begin receiving funds as soon as this spring. The companies involved admit no wrongdoing in the opioid drug addiction problems and deaths caused by the dangerous drug.
